How to Center Pull Yarn for Easier Crocheting

Hello everyone! Today I am going to show you how you can turn the skeins of yarn you buy at the craft store into center pull balls of yarn that make your crocheting life so much easier!

*Disclaimer*

This method will not work on every way you can buy yarn out there. This applies to skeins of yarn which often look something like:

How to Start Center Pull Yarn

Okay so you will need a (preferably new) skein of yarn. You can see that on both ends of the skein are holes that go into the middle of the ball. One side will have a loose end that is tucked inside the middle and the other will not. Go ahead and pull that loose end out of the middle and secure it somewhere on the outside of the skein. This is the unravel point if we wanted to unwrap the skein from the outside in – but we don’t so we’ll just make sure it’s secure.

Now you are going to take your fingers and reach them into the center of the ball. There should be a small cluster of yarn in the center – grab it and pull it out from the center. Every skein varies, but this will be a good bit of yarn so make sure you’re ready to use it once you pull it out. Sometimes it can be tricky to get the center out perfectly, but don’t worry, the center will pull out eventually and you will be able to keep a nice neat skein. This center will have the other end of the yarn in it and all you have to do it find it and start crocheting!

And there you have it! A new skein of yarn with a center pull perfect for any project you might be working on.
